Matriculation examination had already been over and the students of the then class X were desperately waiting for the result to be announced by the Education Board of Nepal. After the exam, all of them became busy with their own life. Some of them got enrolled for the college entrance preparatory classes, some started gym classes, some joined computer classes, some went for tours, while some got confined to their homes watching movies. Leena also joined college entrance preparatory classes. So Prismith had not met her for many days in the park for morning exercises.
After two and half months from the date of examination, the result was published. All of the students of Star High School passed the examination with good grades, with Prismith and Christina getting A+, while Amosh was satisfied with A-. Leena also got A+ in the examination. For those passing the exam with good grades, it was a day of victory, a day in which they made their parents, relatives, and teachers proud of them. But for those with low grades, it was the black day of their life.
In between times, there had been communication gap among the friends. But this result made them connected once again via Facebook and E-mails. They even decided to have a reunion in the form of a picnic. And then the date, time and place for the picnic was determined. To be exact, the plan was to meet on Saturday, at 8 a.m. in Chakrapath bus stand to go for the picnic in Shivapuri National Park. Although Leena attended another school for her matriculation, she also was invited to the picnic.
It was a warm morning on Saturday. The rays of sunlight, penetrating the window fell directly in the eyes of Prismith. He woke up with a grin on his face. He immediately made a phone call to Amosh to tell him to get ready. “Oh man, I was having a date with Christina in my dream. You disturbed us.” he responded.
At around 8 am, all of the friends, except Liza were gathered in the Chakrapath bus Station. Prismith was worried if she would not come. Suddenly he noticed a girl in blue Kurta, coming towards them. It was Liza, looking very pretty. Without any hesitation, he marched forward to receive her. Others were surprised at his behavior, as they had never seen him talking with Liza before.
“You came.” he said with a happy face. She said nothing. She just smiled
“Ahm Ahm! Who is this pretty lady? I have never seen her before. Is she your girlfriend?” Amosh disrupts their conversation.
“You don’t know me, Amosh? “ Liza becomes shy.
“I wonder if it is the same girl who used to hide all the time in our class. Is that you Liza?” He starts teasing her.
“Hey, stop teasing her. Come on. Join us, Liza.” Hritika comes to her rescue.
Christina was standing there as well, but Prismith hadn’t noticed her. She was unhappy with the attention he showed towards Liza.
She came and greeted Prismith.
“Our bus is here. Let’s go.” She grabs his hand to takes him away from Liza.
“Let's go.” Amosh then grabs Christina's hand.
“What are you doing? Let go of my hand”
“Let go of his hand first.” Amosh replies.
All of them entered the bus. Liza was sat in the front seat with Hritika, while Prismith, Christina and Amosh were in the last seat.
It was about 10 a.m. when they reached the picnic spot. Girls started making arrangements for food, while boys assisted them. But Amosh was just wandering here and there teasing all girls.
“Wow! even the smell of food’s fascinating. I wonder who will be the lucky person to enjoy your food in the future.” He says to all girls.
“That person might be you Amosh.” Some of the girls used to tease him back.
“It ain’t possible because I will be enjoying the food made by her.” He answers, pointing his finger to Christina.
“Isn’t it Christina? I would even lick your hand that makes food. How romantic it will be nah. I can’t stop imagining.” He adds.
“In your dreams.” Christina makes him silent.
On the other part, Prismith was helping Liza in cutting vegetables, but he wasn’t being of any help at all.
She smiles and says “I guess you are not good in kitchen work.” He just smiles back
At around 11:30 am, the food was ready. They sat together besides fire, making a circle, and started eating. The food was really good, just as Amosh said before. They were joking, making fun of each other, singing, dancing, playing antakshari. Some guys even swam in the river there. They also made memories in the springs of Sundarijal.
At around 5 p.m. they reached back at the Chakrapath bus Station. The reunion was successful, the picnic was splendid for all of them. They had shared moments of joy which they can reminisce in the future. Now it was time for them to part ways. Everyone left for their home by saying we should have such reunion again.
Liza’s house was at a distance of about 10 minutes-walk from the bus station. After few minutes, her cell phone rang. She saw that the call was from an unknown number. She responded to the call and asked who it was.
Suddenly her face became red. She looked very nervous
“I had been trying to say these words to you since a long time, but I was unable to do so. Today, I want to express these feelings of mine. Please turn back.” He says.
She turns back…
“I love you”…… (to be continued..)
